According to the California Highway Patrol, a hit-and-run accident was reported in Castro Valley.
The officials reported that the crash happened near a Jack in the Box fast-food restaurant on Nunes and Castro Valley Boulevard at around 5:30 p.m.
The officials stated that the driver of a white SUV hit a 6-year-child and fled the scene.
The Castro Valley CHP confirmed that the child suffered major injuries from the crash.
The identity of the victim is yet to be disclosed by the officials.
No additional information relating to the crash was provided.
The suspect is on the run and an active search is ongoing.
