A tragedy struck along U.S. 6 on Sunday when a 6-year-old child died in a crash involving a semi-truck. The incident occurred around 5 a.m. near Helper, Utah, as emergency responders rushed to the scene.
According to Utah Highway Patrol trooper Andy Battenfield, a pickup towing an empty flatbed trailer drifted into the eastbound lane, colliding with the oncoming semi-truck. The child, seated in a car seat behind the front passenger, succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
Both drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to hospitals. The identity of the deceased victim has not been disclosed. The road was shut down in both directions to facilitate the ongoing investigation into this tragic fatal crash.
