A tragic red-light crash in downtown Houston early Saturday claimed the lives of six individuals. The victims include former University of Houston football players D.J. Hayden, Zach McMillian, and Ralph Oragwu.
The multi-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Pierce and Fannin around 2 a.m. A speeding driver ran a red light while travelling southbound on Fannin, colliding with an eastbound SUV. Both vehicles lost control, resulting in the SUV flipping.
Four people were fatally injured and were pronounced dead at the scene. Four others were hospitalized, with two succumbing to their injuries later. One female victim remains in critical condition. The deceased include Hayden, McMillian, Oragwu, and a homeless man.
The driver at fault, along with other victims, were killed. The fatal crash involved multiple fatalities in a complex scenario.
