The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a motor vehicle accident in Hopkins County on Sunday night. The accident occurred on FM 169, three miles south of Pickton.
According to the officials, a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was headed north on the highway. The driver lost control of the vehicle and caused it to veer off the roadway. The vehicle then crashed into a culvert before rolling over. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The driver was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The officials have identified the victim as Stephen F. Sherman, 59.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. There are no other details available.
