According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a fatal crash was reported on Wednesday in Wheeler County. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the motor vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred eastbound on I-40. A Dodge pickup truck towing a flatbed trailer was going eastbound. A semi-trailer was parked legally on the improved shoulders. The driver of the pickup truck failed to drive in a single lane. He thereby drove onto the shoulder and hit the rear part of the semi.
The driver of the pickup was identified as 59-year-old Russel Mullican. Mullican was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. Other insights into the collision are yet to be released.
The crash continues to be investigated by the TDPS.
