According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported in Sutter County. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the hit-and-run accident. Authorities stated that the collision occurred in the eastbound lane of Bear River Drive, west of Swetzer Road.
The deceased person was identified as 59-year-old Roger Carroll. Carroll was driving his bike eastbound when the driver of a 2007 GMC Yukon struck him. The driver of the car then fled the scene.
Carroll was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. The driver of the car was identified as 35-year-old Harpreet Singh Atwal. Atwal was arrested and booked by the police officials.
Other insights into the collision remain unknown. The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
