The Livermore Police Department reported a multi-vehicle accident on Friday afternoon. The accident occurred on East Avenue and Mitra Street at around 3:20 p.m.
According to the officials, a white GMC SUV was changing lanes on East Avenue at Mitra Street when it got into the path of a black Subaru. This caused the two vehicles to collide.
The driver of the GMC SUV was majorly injured and was rushed to a local hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. He has since been identified as 59-year-old Mitchell Katz.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
