A tragic three-car crash in Tangipahoa Parish claimed the life of a Ponchatoula man, Andrew Monistere, 59, on Wednesday morning. State troopers reported that Monistere crossed the center line on LA 22 near West Timberlane Drive, causing another car to veer off the road and into a ditch to avoid a collision.
A truck behind the second car collided head-on with Monistere’s vehicle, resulting in his death. Monistere was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The driver of the second car escaped injury, while the truck driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
The crash remains under investigation by the authorities.
