The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a motor vehicle accident in Van Zandt County on Saturday. The accident occurred on FM 279, about three miles west of Edom at around 4:32 p.m.
According to the officials, a Harley Davidson and a Ford F-150 were involved in a collision. The motorcycle was headed west on the highway when the driver failed to negotiate a curve properly. This caused it to crash into the Ford that was in the eastbound lane.
The driver of the motorcycle was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The officials have since identified the victim as 58-year-old Roy Lewis Woods.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated by the authorities. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
