In Peoria late Saturday night, a head-on collision resulted in the death of a man, identified as 58-year-old Manh Thach. The multi-vehicle accident occurred just before midnight near 67th Avenue and Happy Valley Road.
Thach, the driver of a Toyota 4-Runner was travelling southbound on 67th Avenue. He crossed over the centre lanes and collided head-on with a Honda CRV going northbound.
Thach was critically injured and was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The driver of the Honda sustained serious injuries, while three passengers in the Honda suffered minor injuries.
The intersection was closed overnight but reopened around 4:30 a.m. Sunday. The Peoria Police Department Traffic Services Unit is investigating the fatal crash.
