58-Year-Old Man Killed In A Pedestrian Crash In Tucson (Tucson, AZ)

A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday night on Tucson’s north side as a 58-year-old man was struck and killed while crossing the street, according to Tucson police. The man’s identity has not been released pending family notification, as stated in a news release by the police on Wednesday.

The fatal crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of North First Avenue and East Jacinto Street, situated north of East Grant Road. The man was crossing First Avenue in an unmarked crosswalk when he was hit by a southbound black 2014 BMW sedan. He was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The 21-year-old driver of the BMW was reportedly speeding “well in excess” of the 40 mph posted speed limit. The collision’s major factors were cited as failure to yield to a pedestrian and speeding, with charges pending in the crash, according to the news release.
