58-year-old Joe Silva killed after a two-vehicle accident on Golden State Boulevard (Fresno, CA)

On Thursday, 58-year-old Joe Silva, from Fresno, died following a head-on collision on Golden State Boulevard.

As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle crash took place at the intersection of Ashlan Avenue and Golden State Boulevard. The preliminary investigation revealed that the silver pickup truck driver was involved in an earlier hit-and-run crash at Highway 41 and Highway 180. The driver traveled on Highway 180 and approached Highway 99 where he drove north at a high rate of speed. He failed to maintain control of the vehicle and went into oncoming traffic.

The truck crashed head-on into a black truck driven by Silva in the opposite direction. Reports stated that the victim from the initial hit-and-run accident followed the truck and called 911. Silva died of their injuries after the collision. On arrival, medics transported the truck driver and his passenger through ambulance to the hospital. No other details were provided.

An investigation is ongoing.
