The Washington State Patrol reported a motor vehicle accident in Rimrock Lake on Monday. The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 12, about 23 miles west of Naches at around 2:35 p.m.
According to the officials, a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was pulling a trailer while heading east on the highway. The vehicle had passed several others when the driver lost control. This caused it to leave the roadway and crash into the side of the road.
The driver of the vehicle was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The officials have identified him to be Jeffrey G. Spiekerman, 58. His passenger incurred injuries and was taken to MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
