Officials identified 57-year-old Michael Myles as the victim who died following a high-speed accident Saturday evening in the Sunrise Manor area of the valley.
As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle crash took place near Ripple River Avenue and Desert Edge Street. The early reports showed that the driver of an ATV smashed into a parked GMC pickup truck. The ATV was reportedly traveling at high speeds, and upon entering an intersection, it failed to judge the ‘L’ intersection’s right-hand turn as a result of which it hit a pickup truck that was parked on a curb.
The ATV driver became stuck under the truck after hitting the flatbed portion of the vehicle. On arrival, emergency crews rushed the ATV driver to University Medical Center’s Trauma Unit. The driver was listed in critical condition but later died of their injuries upon arrival to the hospital. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
