57-Year-Old Josefina Herrera Castillo Killed In A Multi-Vehicle Accident In Weslasco (Weslasco, TX)

A tragic two-vehicle crash near Weslaco has claimed the life of a woman and left two men hospitalized, as reported by the Texas Department of Public Safety. The multi-vehicle accident occurred at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday at FM 1015 and Chuparosa Street, north of Weslaco.

Preliminary findings indicate that a black 2014 GMC Sierra, driven by a male, was northbound on FM 1015. Simultaneously, a brown 2005 Chrysler Town and Country Van, with a female driver and a male passenger, was westbound on Chuparosa Street, approaching FM 1015.

The Chrysler failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign, resulting in a collision with the GMC. Tragically, the Chrysler’s driver, Josefina Herrera Castillo, 57, of Weslaco, lost her life at the scene, while the passenger was critically injured.

The GMC’s driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported for medical care. The fatal crash remains under investigation.
