57-year-old Douglas Heighton died after a motorcycle accident in Springfield (Springfield, TN)

On Wednesday, 57-year-old Douglas Heighton, from Greenbrier Tennessee, lost his life following a motorcycle crash in Springfield.

As per the initial information, the single-vehicle accident took place in the 3700 block of Old Greenbrier Pike near Legacy Village Apartments at the curve. A resident informed the Springfield Police about the crash shortly before 7 am. The early reports revealed that Heighton was traveling on a 2005 Harley Davidson at a high rate of speed when his bike drifted off the roadway towards left and hit two trees.

The motorcycle reportedly landed in the yard of a home on Old Greenbrier Pike. Heighton suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The Springfield Police Department, the Springfield Fire Department, Robertson County EMS and EMA, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol all responded to the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
