The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department reported a motor vehicle accident on Thursday morning. The accident happened on the ramp from Berkeley Street.

A stolen Kia driven by 57-year-old Bodham Vetrov was allegedly used in an armed robbery at a convenience store in Tacoma at 12:45 in the morning.

The car sped away from the officer’s attempts to pull it over and climbed the flyover to the Freedom Bridge. The stolen car struck the semi-truck as it was moving at a high rate of speed.

According to Unfred, the tractor-trailer spun around due to the force of the collision, and the driver was thrown from the car.

The driver was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead.

After the fatal crash, the two boys who were riding in the stolen Kia had to be pulled from the car and were taken to nearby hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries.
