Authorities identified 56-year-old Rudy Rene Medellin as the man who lost his life after being hit by a vehicle Saturday on West Side.
The fatal auto-pedestrian collision took place at 6 a.m. at the intersection of Culebra Road and NW 36th Street, near St. Mary’s University. According to the investigation reports, the pedestrian was crossing the intersection when he got struck by a vehicle heading southbound on 36th Street.
At this time, it is unknown if the man was using a crosswalk to cross the intersection at the time of the collision. The driver of the vehicle stopped to help the man. No other details have been provided by the authorities.
The incident remains under investigation.
