The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle accident on Thursday.
The accident occurred on State Route 78 at around 6 p.m.
According to the officials, a vehicle was driving east on the state route when it struck the victim who was crossing the road.
The victim had lost consciousness due to the injuries incurred and was taken to Palomar Hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries and died.
The driver of the vehicle was identified to be a 50-year-old woman. The officials reported that she may have been intoxicated at the time of the accident.
The fatal accident is still being investigated.
While the possible suspect alcohol to be a factor, it is not yet known if drugs played a role.
There are no other details available at the moment.
