Sugar Land Police reported a multi-vehicle accident in Missouri City, Texas on February 7. The crash occurred around 10:30 a.m., in front of the Public Works Department building.
According to the authorities, burglary suspects fleeing police during a chase in Missouri City collided with a Sugar Land Public Works Department employee’s truck. As a result, the victim was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was identified to be 56-year-old Joseph Aponte Sr. The suspects were seen leaving the scene of the burglary just before the collision.
The cause of the fatal crash continues to remain under investigation. The suspects, who required extrication from their vehicle, are now hospitalized and face potential murder charges. The chase, initiated by Missouri City police, saw the suspects evade a traffic stop and enter Sugar Land, where the fatal crash occurred at an intersection.
