A tragic incident unfolded in Union County on Tuesday night, resulting in the death of a man following a serious crash. At approximately 9:20 p.m., the Union County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a crash on Raymond Road, north of Barker Road.

Upon arrival, crews discovered a heavily damaged 2006 GMC Acadia, indicating the severity of the collision. Investigators determined that the driver, identified as 56-year-old Gary Jackson, lost control of the vehicle, veering off the road and striking a guardrail and traffic sign before coming to a halt on the bank of a creek.

Jackson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained serious injuries and was partially entrapped inside the vehicle. He was airlifted to Grant Medical Center but tragically succumbed to his injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
