The Texas Department Of Public Safety reported a motor vehicle crash in Van Zandt County on Sunday afternoon. The accident happened on Highway 80, West of Fruitvale at around 2:30 p.m. The collision involved only one vehicle.
Wayne Stites, 55, of Baytown, was riding his motorbike west on Highway 80, according to DPS. When approaching a curve in the road, Stites, according to officials, was travelling at an unsafe speed.
His motorbike veered off the road and collided with a guardrail. Stites was pronounced dead at the scene after he incurred fatal injuries.
The fatal crash is still being investigated by the officials.
