Three people lost their lives in an accident on interstate 5 in Cowlitz County shortly before 8 a.m. on Saturday.
A 43-year-old Anna-Christie Ireland, a Longview woman’s vehicle crashed into a car and tow truck parked along the freeway. Authorities expected to charge Ireland with three counts of vehicular homicide following the crash. Officials believed that drugs and alcohol have played a factor in the accident. As per reports, 55 year-old Richard H Stoker and 54-year-old Karen C Stoker of Battle Ground, and 63-year-old Arthur E Anderson of Longview, all died at the scene.
Medics transported Ireland to Peace Health Southwest Medical Center. According to the state patrol, Richard and Karen Stoker’s 2013 Kia Sorento and Anderson’s 1996 International tow truck were parked on the northbound shoulder at mile marker 45 on Interstate 5. The tow truck was parked in front of the Stokers’ vehicle with emergency lights activated. Ireland’s 2011 BMW left the roadway to the right and rear-ended the Kia and then hit Anderson, who was standing between the vehicles.
Along with the three fatalities, 25-year-old Travis H Stoker of Battle Ground, a passenger in the Kia, suffered injuries and medics transported him to Peace Health Southwest Medical Center.
