In east Phoenix, a fatal crash occurred on Saturday evening near the intersection of 40th Street and Thomas Road. Phoenix police responded to the motor vehicle accident around 5:30 p.m. and discovered a seriously injured driver, identified as 55-year-old John Ybarra.
Unfortunately, Ybarra succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The details regarding the number of vehicles involved in the fatal crash and the presence of any additional injuries remain unknown.
Authorities temporarily closed the area of 40th Street and Thomas Road for investigation, but it has since been reopened. The police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
