Hayward police authorities reported a deadly hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 55-year-old in Hayward on Wednesday. The victim was identified as Chris Pena.
At around 5:36 p.m, a grey 2000 model Mercedes struck Chris Pena at the intersection of Mission Boulevard and Orchard Avenue. The Mercedes then drove away from the scene.
Pena succumbed to his injuries later in the day.
The police officers are still seeking the vehicle and the driver who struck Pena.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The events leading up to the fatal crash are still being investigated.
No further information regarding the other vehicle has been available at the moment.
