A 54-year-old woman died of injuries she suffered after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday night in Sulphur.
The fatal accident took place on Ruth Street. According to an eyewitness, the woman was going eastbound in her wheelchair and was attempting to get across the road. At some point of time, the woman was run over by a vehicle.
On arrival, medics rushed the woman to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday. It is unknown if impairment played a factor in the accident. Officers have not arrested anyone at this time. No other details are available.
An investigation is continuing.
