The Washington State Patrol reported a motor vehicle accident in Selah on Saturday afternoon. The accident occurred at 821 Harrison Road at around 12 p.m.
According to the officials, two vehicles were involved in the collision. The collision was a two-car T-bone-type crash. The events leading up to the crash are not entirely clear at this time.
One person was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The officials have since identified the victim as 54-year-old Shawna Gipe. The other driver was taken to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
