54-year-old Benito Octavo dead after an auto-pedestrian collision east of Las Vegas Strip (Las Vegas, NV)

Authorities identified 54-year-old Benito Octavo as the man who lost his life after being hit by a vehicle on Tuesday night east of the Las Vegas Strip.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place at about 10:25 p.m. on Maryland Parkway and Reno Avenue. The preliminary investigation indicated that a white four-door Volkswagen Jetta was heading southbound when a pedestrian entered the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk.

Just then, the Volkswagen struck the male pedestrian. The victim suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the man as 54-year-old Benito Octavo.

Octavo reportedly died from blunt force injuries and his death was ruled an accident. The driver of the Volkswagen remained at the scene after the collision and did not display any signs of impairment. No additional information has been provided.

The incident remains under investigation.
