According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported on Monday in Sacramento. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the multi-vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred southbound on I-5, near the Interstate 80 transition. The driver of a Mazda swerved for unknown reasons and crashed into a U-Haul. Subsequently, she pulled back on the roadway but was shortly struck by a Toyota Tacoma.
The driver of the Mazda was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. The driver was identified as 53-year-old Linda Marie Hufnagel.
Other insights pertaining to the collision are yet to be determined. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
