In a multi-vehicle accident, a 52-year-old University of Texas Medical Branch employee, identified as Seyedeh Mandana Moeini, lost her life. This was due to a collision with a Galveston police sergeant on Wednesday night.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Broadway and 14th Street. Sgt. Christopher McNeil of the Galveston Police Department, en route to a reported incident, sustained minor injuries. The events leading up to the collision are not entirely clear at this time.
It remains unclear if McNeil’s emergency lights and sirens were activated at the time of the collision. The officials have not reported if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
