The Orange Police Department reported a motor vehicle crash on Thursday early morning.
The collision involved a vehicle and a pedestrian. It occurred in the 600 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive came at around 5:45 a.m.
A pedestrian had been crossing the road when she was hit by a vehicle. She was then transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, where she later passed away as a result of her injuries. The officials have identified her as 52-year-old Nikki Danene Smith.
The responsible driver has not yet been found. The fatal crash is being investigated. It is unsure what caused the crash. Whether drugs or alcohol were involved is yet to be found. Additional details regarding the crash are not available currently.
