On Thursday, a 52-year-old man suffered injuries following a traffic accident in the northwest valley.
As per the initial information, the two-vehicle crash took place at the intersection of Decatur and Carmen Boulevards at about 7:58 a.m. The preliminary investigation indicated that the driver of a Toyota Camry was turning left from Decatur to Carmen through stop-and-go traffic backed up from Washington Avenue.
At the same time, the moped rider, identified as a 52-year-old man, was heading south on Decatur at speed in the marked bicycle lane, passing the stopped traffic. Just then, the moped collided with the right front of the car. On arrival, emergency crews rushed the moped rider to UMC with critical injuries.
The driver of the car remained at the scene after the collision and did not display any signs of impairment. The identity of the injured victim has not been revealed at this time. No additional information has been provided.
The incident remains under investigation.
