Louisiana State Police responded to a fatal crash on Saturday morning. The crash happened on LA 16 at Vincent Road.
According to LSP, Jerome Johnson, 52, was driving a 2016 Toyota Corolla westbound on LA 16 when he exited the roadway, struck a pole, and was engulfed in flames.
Johnson’s passenger, DillonSlaughter, 27, and another unidentified fled the scene before the officers arrived.
According to the investigators, Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing his seatbelt during the crash.
Slaughter was a rear passenger who was restrained during the crash. He was transported to the hospital, where he later died due to his injuries. An investigation into the crash is under review.
