The Napa Valley County Sheriff’s Office reported a motor vehicle accident in Yolo County on Sunday. The accident occurred near Highway 128 and Lower Chiles Valley Road at around 5:50 a.m.
According to the officials, a single vehicle was involved in the collision. A GMC Yukon was headed east on the highway when the driver lost control. This caused the vehicle to drift off the road and roll over several times before coming to rest on an embankment.
The passenger of the vehicle was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The officials have since identified her as 51-year-old Maria Amparo Patterson.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. The officials suspect alcohol to have played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
