According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a fatal crash was reported on Thursday in Hamilton County. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the motor vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred east of Hamilton on SH 36. The driver of a sedan left the roadway, overcorrected, and lost control of the vehicle and side skid.
He veered onto the other lane and struck a horse trailer with three horses. Both the vehicles landed in a barrow ditch.
The driver of the sedan was identified as 51-year-old Frankie Torres. Torres was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.
The crash continues to be investigated by the TDPS. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
