In a tragic hit-and-run accident on Friday evening, Felix Castro, 51, of Long Beach, lost his life after being struck by a vehicle.
Long Beach Police Department responded to the fatal crash at Orange Avenue and Banner Drive just before 7:10 p.m. Sadly, Castro was found fatally injured in the southbound lanes of Orange Avenue and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation suggests that Castro was crossing westbound outside of a marked or unmarked crosswalk when he was hit by a vehicle. Regrettably, the vehicle fled the scene and remains unaccounted for.
The investigation is ongoing. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the collision.
