On Sunday, five people suffered injuries following a traffic collision near Allendale.
As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle crash took place at about 10 p.m. on Lake Michigan Drive at 104th Avenue in Robinson Township. The early reports showed that a 25-year-old woman from Centreville, Virginia, was southbound on 104th Street when she failed to yield for a westbound vehicle on Lake Michigan Drive and the vehicles collided.
On arrival, firefighters rescued the woman from her vehicle. She and her passenger, a 30-year-old man from Falls Church, Virginia, were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the second car, a 39-year-old West Olive man, and two of his passengers, a 41-year-old woman and a 19-year-old woman, were also taken to the hospital with non-fatal injuries.
A 16-year-old boy in that car remained unharmed in the accident. Lake Michigan was shut down between 96th Avenue and 128th Avenue as crews worked at the scene, but it has since reopened. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
