49-year-old man dead after a two-vehicle accident in Long Beach (Long Beach, CA)

A 49-year-old Compton man lost his life following a traffic collision Saturday in Long Beach.

As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle accident took place on Ocean Boulevard and Termino Avenue. Officers responded to the location at around 10:20 p.m. The preliminary reports showed that 49-year-old man was driving a 1998 Toyota pickup truck westbound on Ocean Boulevard, attempting a left turn southbound onto Termino Avenue.

The reports further revealed that the pickup’s driver failed to yield to an oncoming 2014 Toyota Corolla that was heading eastbound on Ocean, resulting in the crash. On arrival, first responders immediately took the victim, who was a resident of Compton, at an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The person driving the Corolla, a Cerritos resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. Alcohol, drugs and distracted driving were not believed to be involved in the wreck. No additional details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
