49-Year-Old Kevin Eugene Killed In A Multi-Vehicle Accident In Jones County (Jones County, TX)

In a tragic incident, a 49-year-old man, identified as Kevin Eugene Sallas, lost his life on Monday evening in a collision involving an 18-wheeler in Jones County.

The multi-vehicle accident occurred at 6:08 p.m. at the intersection of State Hwy 92 and FM 1661, approximately 1.04 miles north of Hawley. Sallas was driving a pickup truck south on FM 1661, approaching the controlled SH 92 intersection.

Meanwhile, an 18-wheeler operated by Richard Kencade Jones, 38, of Tallassee, Alabama, was heading west on SH 92 towards the same intersection. Regrettably, Sallas failed to yield the right of way, resulting in a fatal crash between the two vehicles.

Sallas was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Cheryl Guernsey. Jones sustained injuries but was reported to be in stable condition at the time of the DPS release.
