The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle accident in National City on Sunday. The accident occurred at a park-and-ride facility in the 2300 block of Sweetwater Road just before 5 p.m.
According to the officials, a man was standing in the bed of a parked pickup truck. The truck was hit by another vehicle which caused the man to fall out of the truck and land under another parked vehicle.
The man was critically injured and rushed to Scripps Mercy Hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The officials have identified the man as 49-year-old Gregorio Arreaga.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
