Authorities identified 49-year-old David Hutchinson as the man who lost his life after being struck by a vehicle on early Tuesday near OLOL in Baton Rouge.

The fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place in the 5100 block of Essen Lane near Our Lady of the Lake hospital at about 12:45 a.m. According to the investigation reports, 49-year-old David Hutchinson was attempting to cross the road when he was struck by a semi-truck.

Hutchinson reportedly suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. No additional information has been provided by the authorities.

The incident remains under investigation.
