48-Years-Old Melissa De Leon Died In A Motor Vehicle Crash In Weslaco (Weslaco, TX)

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a motor vehicle crash on Friday morning in Weslaco. According to DPS, the accident occurred on FM 2812, west of Engelmen Gardens Road and west of Monte Alto, at around 12:06 a.m.

The collision involved two vehicles. A 1999 Freightliner tractor truck with a utility trailer and a single male driver was found to have backed into a driveway off FM 2812. One driver, Melissa De Leon, 48, of Monte Alto, was operating a 2020 Nissan Rogue that was headed east on FM 2812.  She collided with the Freightliner, according to Sgt. Maria Montalvo, public information officer for Texas DPS.

De Leon passed away at the scene from her injuries. The Freightliner’s driver was not taken to the hospital.

The fatal collision is being investigated by the officials. There are no other details available at this time.
