The Lufkin Police Department reported a multi-vehicle accident that occurred on Monday. The officials confirmed that one person died in the accident. According to the officials, the deceased victim was identified as 48-year-old Nicole White.
Around 9:10 p.m. the crash happened when White was attempting to cross the road just before the overpass on Loop 287. She walked into the path of a southbound pickup truck.
The driver, identified as Chad Chessher, 40, of Timpson, told authorities he did not see the woman. She was fatally injured and was pronounced dead.
The authorities are still investigating the cause of the fatal crash. It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
