Authorities identified 48-year-old Andriya Shagwa as the man who lost his life following a two-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon in Phoenix.
As per the initial information, the fatal bicycle crash took place near 27th Avenue and Indian School Road. The early reports showed that the vehicle was entering the roadway when it collided with the bicycle for reasons that are yet to be known.
On arrival, emergency crews rushed the bicycle rider to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the involved vehicle reportedly remained at the scene after the accident. The driver did not display any signs of impairment.
There were traffic delays on 27th Avenue between Indian School Road and Devonshire Avenue for the next few hours to give way to the investigation. It is unknown if the bicycle rider was in a crosswalk or not at the time of the collision. No other information has been provided.
An investigation is ongoing.
