The Irvine Police Department reported a multi-vehicle accident on Saturday. The accident occurred on Irvine Boulevard, east of Sand Canyon Avenue at around 5:51 p.m. 

According to the officials, a white BMW 430i and a gold Lexus RX300 were involved in a broadside collision. There was only one person present in the Lexus while the BMW had four passengers and a driver. 

One of the passengers in the BMW, identified only as a 47-year-old woman, was rushed to a hospital with critical injuries. She succumbed to them and was pronounced dead. Her identity has not been disclosed at this time. 

Two of the other passengers were taken to the hospital. The driver of the Lexus remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. 

The officials have confirmed that neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in the fatal crash.
