A tragic turn of events unfolded in San Antonio as a teen carjacking suspect, Rene Camarillo, now faces murder charges. This is after a woman was hit and killed by a San Antonio Police Department cruiser during a high-speed chase.
Camarillo, 17, was initially arrested on charges of evading arrest, aggravated robbery, and murder. The pedestrian accident occurred when he and another suspect robbed a couple at gunpoint, carjacking their vehicle. Despite efforts to track the stolen car, the suspects evaded officers.
During a subsequent chase, India Watson, 47, was fatally struck by a police cruiser. Watson, a mother of three and grandmother of 12, had recently moved to San Antonio. Camarillo was apprehended after a brief foot chase, while no other arrests have been reported. The fatal crash is still being investigated.
