Authorities identified 47-year-old Feliciano Rodriguez Lara, of Walla Walla, as the man who lost his life and 51-year-old Serafin Perez-Ledesma, from Milton-Freewater, as the man who suffered injuries following a multi-vehicle accident on Friday night between College Place and Milton-Freewater.
The fatal three-vehicle wreck took place on State Route 125 and Stateline Road, 4 miles south of Walla Walla at 7:15 p.m. According to the investigation reports, Feliciano Rodriguez Lara was driving a 2005 Chevy Aveo hatchback south when he ran a red light on Stateline Road. At some point of time, his vehicle crashed into two other vehicles in the intersection.
Rodriguez Lara succumbed to his injuries after the collision. His passenger, 51-year-old Serafin Perez-Ledesma, was rushed to Providence St. Mary Medical Center with unspecified injuries. Drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash, officials said. Rodriguez Lara was buckled up at the time of the accident, but his passenger was not wearing a seatbelt.
The drivers of the other vehicles remained unharmed. 27-year-old Brianna J Kessler, from Dayton, was heading east on Stateline Road in a 2018 Mazda CX-5. 63-year-old Kathryn K Carlson, of Richland, was traveling north on the highway in a 2014 Lexus. All three vehicles were totaled as a result of the wreck. The highway was blocked for hours at the state line as crews worked at the scene. No further details were provided.
The incident remains under review.
