Authorities identified 47-year-old Elke M Wieland Sanchez, from Gilmer, as the woman who lost her life following a single-vehicle accident early Sunday morning in Wood County, 11 miles east of Quitman.
As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place on FM 2088. The preliminary investigation revealed that Elke M Wieland Sanchez was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Impala east on FM 2088 when she failed to travel in a single lane and took faulty evasive action.
The car entered into a side skid and crashed into a tree in the south ditch. The woman suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
