According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported in Richmond on Monday. Authorities stated that one person died due to the multi-vehicle accident.
Officials confirmed that the collision occurred east of MacDonald Avenue, on Interstate 80. The driver of a 2015 Mitsubishi box truck was travelling at a very high speed and struck a Toyota. This resulted in a chain reaction of collisions.
One person identified as 47-year-old Armando G.Modales Jr was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. At least three others sustained injuries due to the accident.
Other information pertaining to the crash is pending release. The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
