According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported on Tuesday in San Jacinto. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the motor vehicle accident. Authorities stated that the collision occurred on southbound Highway 79, near County Landfill Dump Road.
The driver of a 2011 Hyundai Elantra lost control of his vehicle, and this resulted in the sedan veering off the highway. It then rolled down a 100-foot embankment.
The driver was identified as 46-year-old Stephen Rochelle. Rochelle was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.
Other details pertaining to the accident remain unknown. The cause of the collision is yet to be determined. The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
